“Smudge! There you are! Come on! It's time for you to go," I said when I approached them.
"Huh?" Smudge asked. He was beyond confused.
"Time for you to get all packed up. You're leaving soon," I said.
"What do you mean I'm 'leaving?" Smudge questioned.
"I mean I have to get you, Haruhi, and the elephant all set up and packed in the mail," I expanded.
"But why? Why do I have to get packed in the mail and go away?" Smudge asked. He was just reaaaally confused.
"Because you're a Christmas present," I told him.
"I'm a WHAT?" Smudge asked, shocked.
"Yeah, you, Haruhi, and the elephant were always Christmas presents," I explained. I held out a bracelet. "Now put this on. I made Christmas bracelets for all of my friends including your future owner."

Dasher stood there with his jaw on the floor. “What do you mean we’ve been fired?”
“Santa just said not to come this year because new, like, real Reindeer joined his team this year so he doesn’t need all the Webkinz and other plush Reindeer to help,” I said.
“New Reindeer? When did this happen?” he demanded to know.

“And how will you do that?” Arif asked. “I’ve already found all there is to know about this situation. The only other way to find out more is to go to Santa and ask him yourself.”
“And that’s exactly what I’m going to do,” Frosty Bumble replied.
“You’re just going to walk all the way to the North Pole?” Arif said.
“Whatever it takes!” Frosty Bumble exclaimed as he walked towards the window.

“I’m going to go to Canada for a couple days," Mandy told them. "I can’t be here right now. I’ll just be at Dance’s house hanging out with Kurt and Blaine.”
“Okay,” Chloe said softly, nodding.

I scooped up Smudge and placed him in my lap.
"Marlee hasn't had an easy time making new friends either," I said. "So you being friends with Emma's Christmas present is a lovely coincidence. Now the three of you guys can be friends!"

They held each other like best friends should for a couple minutes.
"Okay, now let's get you packed up, Smudge," I said. "The post office is going to be crowded!"
