Arif took the book and scanned the page. “Oh! So, when a kid plays with a toy, their imagination fuels it to life. When a kid grows out of a toy, the spirit leaves the toy and the toy just becomes a lifeless stuffed animal, unless there are different circumstances like the toy being passed on to someone else. The spirit of a toy then goes to a new toy with a new young kid. Commonly it goes into a new toy that is currently popular. In this case, you guys transitioned from the once popular Beanie Babies to the currently-mostly-popular Webkinz.”

“That’s interesting, but it kinda concerns me. What will happen to us when Kat grows out of us?” Maddy wondered.

Chloe walked up with Shona (who was letting her boys have ‘man-time’ with their daddy) behind her. “Please,” she said. “I don’t think that kid will ever outgrow us. I’ve known her the longest so I know how she works. Plus, she’s invested too much in us to give us up.”
“Plus,” Shona added, “a while back she promised me she’d never leave us. She said she might leave us for a little bit for college and stuff, but she said she’d be back for us.”

“So, is there any possible way we can find out more of our past life together?” Saturn asked.
“Yeah!” Gizmo said. “I wanna know about the ‘history’ of our friendship.”

“Well, the solstice is coming up,” Zami remembered. “We could save up our magic and use the last of that to help jog your hidden past life memories before we recharge for the season.”

Saturn had a big grin on his face. Gizmo gasped excitedly and squealed, “You’d seriously do that?”

As everyone started chattering of how excited they were to learn more about this past life stuff with Saturn and Gizmo on the solstice, Maddy broke away from the crowd.

She started walking towards Chloe.

Maddy settled down next to Chloe.
“So,” Maddy whispered to Chloe, “do you think it’s actually possible?”
“Think what’s possible?” Chloe asked softly, not knowing what she was mentioning.
“Friendships,” Maddy answered softly. “Do you really think they can last more than one lifetime?”
