"I mean, it's kinda rude!" Sadie vented.

"Why do people say I can't celebrate the holidays because I'm not religious?" Sadie questioned. She was frustrated because some people were telling her she couldn't enjoy the holidays because she isn't religious.

"I mean, the Japanese are mostly atheist and they still celebrate Christmas," Sadie said. "In Japan, Christmas is more of a 'lovers' day."

"In fact, the Christmas Celebration was put on December 25th because it's the end of Saturnalia, a pagan festival. The Christians of that time told pagans they could celebrate their holidays if they converted to Christianity. The Christians wanted pagans to join their religion."

Disclaimer - I am in no way denying the existence of Jesus Christ and all the other religious figures. I just couldn't figure out what to have these guys discuss so I researched some stuff on Christmas/holiday celebration history. :-)

"Some people are just so silly," Sadie said. "I have a right to celebrate holidays just as much as everyone else. I mean, Halloween is a pagan holiday and non-pagans celebrate it too. Then there are the Americans that celebrate Cinco de Mayo and Chinese New Year just because they like to party."

"Yep, yep, yep," Mandy said. "Everyone has the rights to winter holidays whether it's celebrating religion or lovers."

"Speaking of looovers," Sadie said in a teasing voice, "what's your holiday romance fantasy?"

Mandy blushed and started stumbling on her words. "Um, um, why do you need to know that?"
"Just a friendly question," Sadie responded. "More interesting than asking what you want for Christmas."

"Well, um, I just want to um, get cups of coffee and discuss scientific theories with her," Mandy choked out.
