Title Meanings #1

Re: ♦ Kat and the Webkinz ♦ <Entertaining WI Members in a 3-in-1 Thread, One Meow at a Time> Contains 18,000+ Pictures and 1,000+ Updates! Updated Weekly, So Check By Often! [New Update 8/4/12!]

Oh look it's blog entry time to pass the time until I get this Gold Forever Part 1 thing done!
Title Meanings #1

Mmkaykay so I am ALMOST DONE with the Gold Forever Part 1 script. I just need to add just a bit of more dialogue to the flashbacks and I can work on getting the pictures done (and I plan on staying home today so I should be able to make progress).

To pass the time, I'm going to post a little blog entry. I started writing it a while back. It's still in progress and it's ridiculously long so I'm going to post this gradually as a little filler thing.

So go ahead and read it if you're into the behind-the-scenes stuff of the thread (or you just really know where the heck I come up with update titles).

If not, feel free to ignore this entry and wait patiently while I finish Gold Forever Part 1.

-------------------------------------------------

Everyone here agrees that my picture stories tend to have interesting titles.
But I'm sure a lot of people here are confused. Why do I do these weird titles? What is the purpose?
Instead of having a title straight to the point, why do I have weird phrases instead?

A lot of you know that most of these picture stories are named after song titles, or at least close to song titles. (For example, instead of naming the update where Madeline goes on a search for her Pegasus best friend (which was never finished, *sigh*), "Waiting For a Pegasus Like You," instead of after the song, "Waiting for a Girl Like You." And instead of "Why Can't This Be Love?", the update where Fanby tries to befriend Sadie is titled "Why Can't This Be a Friendship?")

While most of the picture story titles are straight to the point (like the ones I just mentioned a second ago), some of them aren't.
And I thought that I would blabber on about some of my title choices because I'm so self-centered that I obsess over my own thread and expect you guys to worship me.
Well, you don't have to read this if you want to, but for the curious ones...here you go...

Hm...let's start with the 2009 Christmas specials.
Something's Missing - I'm pretty sure you've guessed it. Lacey sensing she has a twin so she has this "missing" feeling inside of her, which causes her to realize these senses (wow that sentence barely made sense...oh well). Also, it talks about Shona (and her family)'s desire to adopt another pup kid into the family, so it feels like "something's missing" (as in, another member of the family).
Paley! - Well, the update is based around Paley's introduction, but there's something else to it. Sometimes episode titles seem clever when it's a quote from the dialogue. Dasher yells "Paley!" to her to get her attention and try to stop her from approaching Frosty Bumble to warn her about his [previous] hatred for Christmas, the Peppermint Puppy's favorite holiday.

The rest of the Christmas 2009 titles are self-explanatory (or they were explained during the update), so let's move on...

Time For Hope - This is another update that has a dialogue quote in it. I tell Mandy "it's time for hope" when we talk about Sophie.
If the Sky is the Limit, Then How Come There are Footprints on the Moon? - This isn't a song title, but oh well. This is the update where "Ganz sent out that modification that makes it so only the Webkinz can fly in Webkinz World can fly in real life." It's well known that Lacey (before this point) defied laws of nature and has figured out to fly on Earth/in real-life/in her plush form, even though she's only a Yellow Lab. When Ganz sent out that mortification, making it so Lacey and everyone else she's taught unable to fly, Lacey becomes very upset because she was proud of herself for doing what everyone thought was impossible. In other words, Lacey "reached the moon" when she figured out how to fly, but this modification was Ganz "making the sky the limit."
Stuck in the Past - Okay, so at this point I wasn't using song titles for updates yet, but I'll discuss the meaning of the title. This title is about Sophie coming back from her special OFD camp and more self-conscious about her OFD. She also gets mad at me for sending her to OFD camp and there's a little flashback show about how out-of-control her condition was making her. "Stuck in the past" refers to the flashbacks, everyone always remembering Sophie's food-obsessed crazy actions in the past, how Sophie can't get over that she was sent away because her condition went too far, and Sophie feeling like she hasn't changed and is still "crazy."
When Worlds Collide - Okay, so this IS a song title. SpongeBob, anyone? So this is an update about my Webkinz' attempts to interact with other virtual pets to create somewhat of a diverse experience, so hence, "worlds colliding."
The Ghost of You and Me - Song title! Okay so this update is about Tropical Banana finding his true twin. (It was originally thought to be Lacey, but her true twin turned out to be Sarah's Sandy.) I wanted to pick a title of a song about someone missing from your life, and "The Ghost of You and Me" was the most interesting song title I found.

-------------------------------------------------

Alright, I think you guys have read enough. I hope your heads haven't exploded yet...

As I've said, the rest of this series of blog entries will come gradually (and I will continue it as I make more updates!).

Just felt like sharing this...to let anyone read if they were curious.

Now if you excuse me, I'm off to read some of Homestuck, because for some reason when I read Homestuck I get really inspired to work on the thread (and my brain needs a break this morning). Homestuck is a really long webcomic, and this thread is somewhat like a webcomic too (but live-actioney instead of cool cartoons and animations and such). (Plus it would make Alyx happy if I read some of Homestuck and caught up with her already.)

So yeah...
