After a minute, Shuffle got up and flew away and Lily walked in the opposite direction.
They had nothing to say to each other anymore.

"I'm leaving to go to Canada to see my family for Canada Day," Shuffle said. "I'll be back in a week."

"I miss Shuffle," Maya said.
"Me too," I said. "It's been way too long!"
"But what are we gonna do?" Maya asked. "We may never see him again."
"We need to send out a professional," I said.

"Can you go out and find him for us?" I asked.
"Piece of cake," Lacey said.

“Lacey had used her flying abilities to get to him as fast as she could. Daddy had no choice but to be impressed with her. That was the day he dropped his stances on the whole flying situation and saw things Lacey’s way. If she never believed in herself, he would have never made it back home.”
"And Lacey," Shuffle said. "I must say, what you did is pretty amazing."

“Lacey and I were already friends by that time, and sometimes she would talk to me about how much Shuffle had matured since his Canada Day trip. Sometimes she would coax me into considering befriending him once more. It was tempting, but doubtful. I mean, I had changed and mature too, but how was I supposed to know if we would become friends again? Our issues with each other was much more complicated than the flying issue.”
“He’s so nice now!” Lacey gushed. “He’s such a fantastic friend! Nothing like he used to be!”
