- This Update Takes Place in Late August -
**This update is told from Rex's Perspective**
//Just so there’s no confusion, this is The Rest of My Life from Rex’s perspective\\
Like ships in the night,
You keep passing me by.
We're just wasting time,
Trying to prove who's right.
And if it all goes crashing to the sea,
If it's just you and me,
Trying to find a light, like ships in the night.
-- Matt Kearny, "Ships in the Night"
I was sitting on top of the desk, watching all activity going on in the bedroom.
This is what I enjoyed doing in my free time. I liked sitting back and watching life go on for others on a regular basis. I'm not really the type of person to jump in and be active socially. I'm too laid back for that. Plus, it's entertaining watching drama happen to other people instead of throwing myself into it.

This was when I noticed Chloe was pacing.
She looked lost, like she didn't know where she was going or what she was doing.
I had often seen other people, especially Kat, pace the way Chloe was pacing. If someone paces like that, it usually means they're distracted and/or distraught.
But why would Chloe be distracted and/or distraught?
Was it because Kat was leaving the house in less than a month?
Should I approach her?
http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps8b9c8724.jpg
I watched her climb up and talk to Kat…
http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps21e5fab1.jpg
...and then walk away looking extremely down.
http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps44630c28.jpg
http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/p...pse2f18724.jpg
I can't let her go on like this. It destroys me to see her unhappy...and especially when it's interrupting her life ('cause she's often unhappy in the annoyed sense but she's usually fine then...but now's a different story).
But what can I do to make her okay again?

I watched Chloe go and lie down, still looking extremely depressed.
I remained on the desk desk, thinking about what I would say to her.
She looked uncomfortable.
I really need to talk to her or something. We've stuck together since we first met over 5 years ago. I feel like it's my responsibility to try to help her. Plus, I know that if our roles were reversed in this scenario she would worry insanely about me too. Remember that time I went through the wash and when she couldn't find me after a day she brought her little plush bottom and a search party to the cellar to rescue me? Haha, yeah. She's great.
But I can't just go up to her and magically fix her. All I can do is be there and support her.
So where do I start?
http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps71f0c4ee.jpg
Suddenly, Kat came through the door with a box of pizza in her arms as the bedroom filled with an aroma of the hot, cheesy, greasy Italian pie.
http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps3679564f.jpg
"Oooh!" Shona squealed. "Did you get pizza?"
"Yes I did!" Kat exclaimed cheerfully. "A nice thick-crust to savor not before you, me, and the boys have to get used to thin-crust when we're in New York in a month!"
"Oh goodie!" Shona cheered.
http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps07bfc472.jpg
Then she called out, "Boys! Grandma Kat got us pizza!"
http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps0c50f89d.jpg
Cupid and Shane scurried excitedly to the pair, followed by Icestorm who was tiredly carrying Blaze on his back.
"Yippee!" Cupid and Shane cheered.
"Oh, yummy!" the exhausted father said praisingly.
"Now don't take too much because we have to share it with everyone else in the family!" Kat instructed.
http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/p...psca13eec3.jpg
Then she looked and saw Chloe lying on the pillow. "Oh, Chloe! Good, it's you! You want some pizza? And tell everyone else there's pizza!"
Phew, I thought. Kat will feed Chloe some flavorful pizza and pay some attention to her. And when would pizza not make someone feel happier for the moment? This meant I had some extra time to think about my approach for Chloe.
http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps799eaacd.jpg
The white Poodle silently approached Kat and accepted a small slice. Then, she sat down with the group.
http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps0a311a05.jpg
"I can't wait to try New York pizza!" Shona gushed.
"I got plenty of coupons too for when we do go!" Kat replied.
http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/p...psf1302891.jpg
Why wasn't Chloe participating in the conversation? She always had something snarky to say whenever Kat spoke. Wasn't there something to insult about Kat loving pizza and having tons of coupons for it? Chloe wasn't even rolling her eyes at this!
http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/p...psec4855dd.jpg
She seemed so...lifeless.
http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/p...pseb32d23d.jpg
As soon as everyone else finished their pizza, I saw her walk away.
I knew I had to jump in now.
http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps3cc9823d.jpg
That's when I thought of the idea to ask her to come online and hang out with me or something.
