I let them come out of the bag.
"What's all this?" Lily asked.

I opened up the plastic bag.
"These are all random plushies," I answered. "There are a few Christmas ones in this closet somewhere too. I thought you guys could play with them while I'm downstairs with family."

I pulled out one doll.
"Look!" I exclaimed. "It's Loonette from The Big Comfy Couch!"

Amelia climbed on Loonette's leg.
"A promise is a promise, even to yourself," Amelia mimicked Loonette's famous quote.

Lily was very confused.
"Amelia, Grandma Kat is back and you said you understood that Daddy was at Sarah's," she said. "So why are you still upset?"

"It's not Grandma Kat or Daddy who broke a promise," Amelia told her.

It then hit Lily hard. She knew exactly who she was talking about.
"I'm sorry Amelia," Lily said. "I know exactly how you feel right now."

Moomoo started roaming through the plastic bag and pulled out a large purple dinosaur.
"It's Barney!" she yelled.

I watched as they all played...

...and Moomoo roamed around the closet looking for more plushes to play with.

"I'm just gonna let you guys play while I go hang with biological family," I said as I walked out the door.

A while later they were already in my bag but I opened it again in my grandma's living room.
Moomoo popped out and said, "What's up?"

I dropped some minty mentos into my bag.
"Just dropping these in," I said.

"I also found these cool stickers on my grandma's desk," I said as I held up the sheet.

Then I stuck one on Moomoo's snout and said, "let's check the Santa tracker!"
