"I bet I will, Maddie!" Laraine exclaimed.

"Uh, no," Maddy said in reply. She was resting on a pile of blankets. "I'm the Maddy, not Madeline."

"It's no biggie," I said to Laraine. "Right, Maddy?"

Then Kat started running around us with SLEEPOVER stuff frantically.
"Hi guys! Bye guys!" she exclaimed.
"Um, Kat, what are you doing?" I questioned her.

"I have a sleepover tonight," she told me. "I'm sorry!"
"You mean you're just gonna bail on us?" I complained. "You're always here for ladies' night! You usually have the sleepovers on Saturdays!"
"I'm sorry!" she apologized.
"Can you at least take Laraine too?" I asked.
"I don't want her first Friday night to be spent in a bag," she explained. "She'll have much more fun here."

Then we all sat in a circle.
"This isn't just gonna be a ladies' night," I said. "This is gonna be the most epic ladies' night there ever was, because there's no Kat to tell us no."
"And that's why you're my sister," Maddy said.

"Are we gonna be staying up all night long?" Maddy asked.

Maddy, who was tangled in the iPod headphones like I was, said, "The night time is extremely boring. You think it would be fun but it's not."

"We need to get out of this room," I said.

"For the billionth time, Kat is at her friend's house," I said. "All we're just gonna do is walk around the house."

Then we walked to the staircase.
"So what are we gonna do?" Icestorm whispered.
"We're gonna hit the basement," I whispered. "We need some serious adventure."
"Awesome," Icestorm whispered.
But still, why did she have to bring him? This is called Ladies' Night. Not Ladies' and Shona's Mate, Icestorm Night.

Then my singing and everyone walking came to an abrupt stop when we heard something.
"Was that a ghost?" Maddy asked.
"Shush!" I whispered.
