Chapter 1
Never did I expect my life to be this way. When you're a Webkinz, you expect to be purchased, go home and see some more Webkinz, and be adopted online and meet other Webkinz. But what if you ran into a situation way different? What if your owner had three Autistic siblings? What if you lived with other Webkinz that were taken in because their previous owners didn’t want them anymore? What if you ended up getting lost? Before I give too much away, I'd better tell the story in detail…
When I woke up, I was on a conveyor belt, surrounded by other Polar Bears. I looked down at my front legs. They were white. So, it's pretty obvious that I was a Polar Bear too, but I wanted to check anyway. Then, I was picked up by a man, and a blue tag was tied and clipped around my leg. It didn't hurt, but man, it itched! Then I was placed back into a conveyor belt. Pretty soon, the conveyor belt dropped me in a cardboard box at the end. I was stuffed in with other Polar Bears, and some Pelicans were in the box too. Then, the box was closed, and picked up, and was placed down, and we heard a door slam. Then, the sound of a truck starting up was heard.
"Where are we going?" one of the Polar Bears asked.
"I think Walgreens," another said.
"No, then we'd have red, itchy tags on our chests," a Pelican said.
"I hear a lot of Webkinz go to card stores," I said.
"Well maybe it's NOT a card store," another Pelican said.
Then, the truck hit a pothole and I fell on a Pelican.
"Sorry," I said.
"It's OK. It was a bump, and this is a truck," the Pelican said.
Then, we heard a screech and the back door of the truck slammed open, and boxes were loaded out, then our box was carried inside. The bell rang as the box went inside, and we heard some muffled talking, and papers shuffling. Then, the box was brought to a dark room, and the door was shut.
"Aw, great. Not a dark room!" a Polar Bear exclaimed.
"It's not that bad," a Pelican said.
"Maybe we'll be displayed soon," I said.
"That'd be cool," the Pelican said.
"So, you looking for a boy or a girl owner?" I asked.
"I don't care. As long as they take care of me," the Pelican said.
"Yeah, me too," I said.
"So, where's your W?" the Pelican asked.
"My what?" I asked.
"Your W. Mine is on my tail feather," the Pelican said. Then it showed me its tail feather, which had a picture of a rainbow W on it.
"It should be on your front paw," a Polar Bear said.
I checked all four of my paws. I had no W…
"I…don't have a W," I said sadly.
"That's OK. It makes you unique! I hear that Webkinz without W's are super rare and are highly valuable!" the Pelican exclaimed.
"You know what's weird? I have two W's," a Polar Bear said.
I pulled myself through the pile of Polar Bears, and Pelicans, and I reached my paw out. "Do you mind?" I asked.
"Not at all," the Polar Bear said.
I touched the extra W. And, it wasn't just any W. It was my W. My W on another Webkinz. And I had their leg, and they had mine.
"I'm sorry. If there was a way I could give you my W, I would," the Polar Bear said.
"Thanks," I said.
For the next two hours, I lied down in the box, chatting with my Pelican friend.
"I wonder who's on top of us," the Pelican said.
"Hmmm…" I said with a wondering voice. I pawed my way up to the top of the box, and knocked. "Anyone there?" I asked.
"What are you doing?" a Polar Bear asked me.
"Finding friends," I said.
"I'm here," a Webkinz from the box on top of ours said.
"Hi. I'm a Polar Bear. We're Polar Bears and Pelicans. What are you? Who's in your box?" I asked.
"I'm a Lil' Bulldog. This is a box of Lil' Bulldogs and Lil'…uh…" the Webkinz said.
"Lil' Black Poodles," a muffled voice of another Webkinz said.
"Yeah. So, hi," the Lil' Bulldog said.
"Hi. Is there any Webkinz above you guys?" I asked.
"I'll go check. Be right back," the Lil' Bulldog said.
"I'll be here," I said.
As soon as I heard the Lil' Bulldog paw his way up the box, I pawed my way back down to my Pelican friend.
"You have to come with me! I met some other Webkinz!" I exclaimed. I grabbed their wing and pulled them up with me as I pawed my way back up the box.
After about thirty seconds, we heard the Lil' Bulldog paw their way back down the box. "There are Toco Toucans and Crocodiles above us."
"That's cool. I brought my friend, a Pelican," I said.
"That's cool," the Lil' Bulldog said.
"So…you're a…" the Pelican said.
"A Lil' Bulldog. There's also Lil' Black Poodles in here," the Lil' Bulldog said.
And we just chatted and chatted for the rest of the night.
Being a Webkinz wasn't so bad, until the hurt of not being chosen by a child when you're on the shelf…
Chapter 2
The next morning, I was woken to a box from the top of the pile being taken off. I heard some Webkinz being unpacked. I panicked and knocked on the box.
"Hey, wake up! Wake up!" I exclaimed, with panic in my voice.
The Lil' Bulldog yawned. "Hey. What is it?" they asked.
"The Webkinz are being unloaded! Get to the box so we can sit together on the shelf!" I exclaimed.
"OK! See you in a bit!" they exclaimed. I heard them paw their way to the top of the box as fast as they could. Then, I grabbed my Pelican friend's wing.
"Huh? Wha?" they asked.
"I wanna make sure we can sit on the shelf together with the Lil' Bulldog," I said.
The Pelican laughed.
Then, I heard the box on top of us being unloaded, then our box was opened, and me and my Pelican friend were pulled out, along with other Webkinz. The woman put us in another empty box and brought us and other unloaded Webkinz to the Webkinz shelf, and placed us on.
For the next few hours, Webkinz sold and sold. Eventually, since the Polar Bear was the Pet of the Month apparently, the woman had to bring out more Polar Bears. I was a little sad to see that I wasn't adopted yet. I just kept getting sadder and sadder as more Webkinz were sold that weren't me.
Why wasn't I being adopted? I mean, I was Pet of the Month! I even don't have a W! Isn't that rare? I wonder if that was the reason why I wasn't being adopted. But wait, not a single child picked me up yet!
Finally, a kid picked me up along with another Polar Bear!
"Can I get these two, Mommy?" she asked.
"No! Just one!" the mom said.
The girl looked at us for a second, and then finally, she put me back and said "I think this one's cuter!" Then they paid and left.
That broke my heart. Was I ugly? Was I one of those "deformed" Webkinz the Webkinz on the truck discussed? Would this mean I'd NEVER be adopted? I let my snout fall and hit the shelf. I sighed.
Later on, the woman closed up the store and left, and I got a chance to talk to some other Webkinz.
"I can't believe I wasn't bought yet," I said.
"Aw, don't worry about it! You're Pet of the Month! You'll get adopted by the end of the month! I've seen it happen almost every time!" a Webkinz Googles exclaimed.
"Really? You think?" I asked.
"Of course!" the Googles exclaimed.
"I hope you will be adopted soon. How long were you here?" I asked.
"Three months. But don't worry. My time's coming," they said. And with a smile, they pointed their beak at the Pet of the Month poster by the cash register.
PET OF THE MONTH
December - Polar Bear (Full-Sized Only)
January - Bulldog (Full-Sized Only)
February - Googles (Full-Sized Only)
"Well, I wish the best of luck to you! Maybe someone will adopt you sometime soon to get ready!" I exclaimed.
"Thanks," they said.
"Hey, aren't you the W-less Polar Bear that has my leg?" a Polar Bear next to me asked.
"I think so. You the one that have two W's?" I asked.
The Polar Bear rolled on their bottom and showed their two W's.
"Yep. That's my W," I said.
They laughed. "Yeah. You haven't been adopted yet?" they asked.
"No. I was picked up, but another Polar Bear was thought of cuter than me," I said.
"That stinks. I hope you get adopted soon," they said.
"Thanks," I said. Then I turned to face my Pelican friend. "Want to find our Lil' Bulldog friend?" I asked.
"Sure. Why not?" the Pelican replied.
So, we jumped down to the floor. We started to climb up again, and found the shelf with Lil' Bulldogs.
"Alright. Which one of you chatted with a Pelican and a Polar Bear today?" I asked.
And all the Lil' Bulldogs started barking.
"Will you guys keep it down?" a Webkinz yelled from below.
Then the Lil' Bulldogs stopped.
"Sorry," I called out. "So," I whispered. "Which one of you chatted with a Polar Bear earlier?"
"Ooh!" one of the Lil' Bulldogs whispered excitedly. "I chatted with a Polar Bear earlier! They were really nice! Was that you?"
"Yeah," I whispered.
"Cool," they whispered. "Can I come with you to your shelf?"
"Sure!" I whispered.
So, we climbed to my shelf, and we chatted with each other for the rest of the night. Just me, my Lil' Bulldog friend, my Pelican friend, the Polar Bear with my W, and the friendly Googles I chatted with.
I could stay here for a while…
Chapter 3
I woke up to bright sunlight and a bell ringing as the door opened. The lady that works at the store was here.
She started adjusting us a bit, making sure we were sitting up straight. I'm quite glad she didn't move us. Then she went off elsewhere, and then eventually went to the register.
A half hour later, customers started coming in. Some Webkinz were purchased. I started to get depressed, but I remembered the friends I have now, on this shelf.
Then, these quite interesting people came in. A family of a woman, a girl who looked fourteen, and three boys that looked seven. Two of the boys skipped around the store, following the girl, and the other boy stood by his mom saying "The dogs are eating chips! Oh no!" over and over.
"Kassandra, go and pick out Webkinz, and have your brother pick out Webkinz. I'll be in the Christmas cards section," the mom said.
"Okay, Mom," the girl said.
She guided her brothers to the Webkinz shelves, and told her brothers to pick a Webkinz.
And the best part happened. She picked up the Googles and me.
"I'm taking these guys for the Pet of the Month thing," she said.
Then one of her brothers picked up the Polar Bear with my W.
"I'm getting a Pet of the Month too, Kassandra!" he exclaimed.
"Okay, Jake," she said.
The one who says weird things picked up my Pelican friend.
"Bird?" he asked.
"Sure, Drake," she said.
This just keeps getting better.
"I like this Bulldog! He's so cute! I love Lil' Kinz!" the last brother exclaimed.
"Sounds great, Mike," Kassandra said.
"Woah! This Polar Bear has TWO W's!" Jake exclaimed. "Does that mean he's super magical?"
"Bet he is!" Kassandra exclaimed.
Drake began to play with my Pelican friend's wings.
"You guys all set?" the mom asked.
"Wait! I need to pick out an outfit for my Polar Bear!" Jake exclaimed. "Can I, Mom?"
"Sure, Jake," she said.
"Can I too?" Mike asked.
"That's fine," she said. "Kassandra, go take Drake with you and go follow Mike and Jake. Get whatever you want. I'll be looking around if you need me."
"Sure, Mom," Kassandra said.
Then Kassandra carried the Googles and I, and brought her brother to go to the accessories section with her other brothers.
Mike got his Lil' Bulldog a maroon hoody. Jake got his Polar Bear an Arte bomber jacket. Drake got his Pelican a simple stripy toque. My Googles friend got a baseball cap, and I got a red and green polo shirt.
Then Kassandra picked up a handful of Series 3 trading cards, had the boys put their Webkinz on the counter, put me and the Googles on the counter, and called over her mom and her mom payed.
Kassandra quickly stuffed the Series 3 trading cards in her purse, and they left.
I don't care if I'm stuck living in a house with weird people. I've been adopted, and I'm living with all my friends, and I'm getting a heck of a lot of prizes.
I could get used to this…
