(A quick review on The Squid V5 Log, Entries 6 and 7, with Chloe, Stuart, and Kiki.)
We're back!
"Why am I here?" Chloe asks with annoyance.
"Being summoned for a blog entry is weird," Stuart the Tamagotchi comments.
Yes, I summed Stuart here…but for a good reason! A lot happens in this entry.
First in Entry 7 I mention……..that Fanby the stuffed ferret…is the "dad" of my Tamagotchis….
Chloe shakes her head in shame.
"Should we call him here?" Stuart asks.
"We'll spare him," Chloe says.
True. I already took away his soulmate; I don't want to subject him to any embarrassment on this blog.
"You took away his soulmate?" Stuart questions.
You'll see. It's in an upcoming Kat and the Webkinz picture story.
Anyway, I called Fanby being the dad "playing House with Tamas."
(Here's a picture of them.)
"No, no one knew what you meant," Chloe cuts me off before I could continue, referring to the next sentence in the blog.
I'm sure some kids related!
"I know but I gotta point out anything possible," Chloe replies.
Yes…but for my creative purposes.
Chloe makes a good point and expresses my embarrassment through my creativity, but don't we all know and understand that kids like to pretend to be parents? Pretty much all kids have done it. I did it a little later as well. Anyone who still plays with virtual pets probably still does it. Virtual pets are our "babies," so of course we're the "parents." (Even adults today call their real-life pets their "babies!")
Feel free to leave a comment about how YOU parentified yourself for pretend fun at any time of your life! Whether for a toy as a kid, for a pet now, or anything in between! It's all okay!
I still think of my virtual pets as my adoptive offspring. Not only that, but I think of all the kids of the world I know as my own metaphorical children. (Big example of this: my younger friends, Tyler and Alex, I consider my sons. Tyler even calls me "Mommy" instead of by my name!)
Moving on…
In the next part of this entry, I discuss a quote I made up: "Don't bond with your Tamagotchi. Bond with friends who have a Tamagotchi."
I bet y'all are wondering what I'm talking about.
"Of course they are!" Chloe exclaims. "You gave no context!"
Anyway, I said that because I "bonded" too much with a certain Tamagotchi of mine…and she died on me…
"Not this rant again…" Chloe complains.
But I've learned…bonding with other humans over Tamagotchis is great! Like bonding with friends from school or summer camp. This was an important lesson to learn as a kid because I often didn't realize how important it was to be friends with other kids my age.
But…losing Kiki to Tamagotchi death was still saddening.
*summons Kiki the Tamagotchi*
"The whole crew is here, huh!" Chloe observes.
"Why am I here?" Kiki asks.
"Why am I still here? Why am I needed?" Stuart inquires.
We'll get to you in a minute, Stuart!
Kiki, you're here because I was discussing your tragic passing. Oh, Kiki, why did you have to die on me when I raised you up when I was 12?
Kiki pauses and stares at me. "You left me unhappy for hours on end. Tamagotchis can't be left without any happy hearts! Of course I died!"
Oh, Kiki, I'm so sorry. Will you ever forgive me?
"For the millionth time, YES, I have forgiven you!" Kiki tells me. "Being a Tamagotchi Planet ghost is actually pretty cool. I can be SPOOKY!!!!"
Good! I'm so glad!
"WHY AM I HERE?" Stuart complains.
Because in this entry I talk to you!
"…okay?" Stuart questions.
Yeah! I just wanted to point out where the line where I asked you if you wanted a snack was basically one of the first times I talked with a virtual pet in a creative format!
"Okay," Stuart says. "Can I leave?"
Um…sure! I guess that's it!
*Stuart zaps out*
"I'm gonna leave too…" Kiki says awkwardly.
*Kiki fades away in a ghost-like fashion because she's a ghost*
"It's amazing how you can just bring whoever in and out through blogging in your little Labracadabradorland imagination world," Chloe notes.
Yes, I am a very creative person.
But look at what else I'm talking about! My Tamagotchi cradle that I made out a piece of my box was cool! Let me pull a picture from my PhotoBucket of that…
That was another example of my creativity from when I was a kid. I did a lot of crafting with my hands when I was young. It helped me expressed myself when words couldn't. It also kept my brain happy and well. It's good to find little things to create so you have something to do! It's productive and helps your mind stay well!
Another example is also in this entry! The hopping song!
"Ohhhh my…" Chloe exhales.
The hopping song was so iconic to my youth!
"I hear the hopping song was indeed VERY iconic," Chloe adds.
This was where the iconic hopping song started, and every generation after this one I added more lines based on the generation I had at that time. You'll see! It progresses as the blog goes along. It was actually pretty popular, because my kid readers often looked forward to the new additions to the "song."
Writing is also a great form of self-expression. It's been a staple of self-expression for me since I was ten years old! And here I was at age 12, writing silly little songs.
It's silly to me now, but it was cool to me back then. Plus, other kids seemed to enjoy my little song. Making others happy with my writing made me happy! You never know who can be made happy by your work--even if it's just you!
I think it's about time we move on, because this review has been dragging. Don't you agree, Chloe?
"Z. Z. Z."
