(This is where I explain exactly what "Kat and the V-Pets" is before kicking off some introductory stories.)
(Woo! You did it!)
(this post's narrative takes place in March 2018)
“Hey!” a voice whispers. “Katie…Kat…”
“Katie-Kat…” the voice continues. “KATIE-KAT MARGE LABRADOR!”
the voice starts to yell. “WAKE the frick frack up!”
I finally process that the voice is coming from a very
familiar stuffed white Poodle named Chloe.
“Oh goodness…what time is it?” I ask tiredly.
“TIME FOR YOU TO PAY ATTENTION TO ME!” Chloe growls at me.
Chloe may sound aggressive…but believe me, she’s no threat
to me.
“I love how in 2018 in the Year of Our
Lord…” I begin to say.
She cuts me off. “Watch your offensive mouth!”
“Offensive? But who’s watching us?” I ask her.
“The readers!” she reminds me.
Hello, readers! I’m Katie-Kat, but you can call me solely
Katie or Kat. As of the day of posting this, I have been in existence for 22
years. My pronouns are she/her/hers and I also accept they/them/theirs and
he/him/his pronouns. I have a variety of hobbies, from arts and crafts to
techie stuff. I studied media and religion in college and I am a fanatic of the
philosophy of TV legend Fred Rogers. I write a lot to help me cope with my
Borderline Personality Disorder and other personal challenges.
Enough about me though, right? You’re probably sitting here thinking, “what the frick frack am I reading right now?”
Before I give a brief summary, I want you all to meet two
very important figures:
The first one is Nick, the very first Tamagotchi I ever
raised. I raised him on a Tamagotchi Connection V1 in March of 2005 and he grew
up to be a Masktchi.
Nick, say hi to everyone!
The second one is Chloe, the very first Webkinz I ever
obtained. I received her in April of 2007 and she’s a regular white Poodle
Webkinz pet.
Chloe, say hi!
“Webkinz is the name of the website, the individual pets are
called ‘Webkinz pets,’” Chloe reminds me with a hint of growl in her tone.
Yes, Chloe, that’s correct. (I just learned that this last year
from an official Webkinz Twitter account and I keep having to remin—
Anyway, a Tamagotchi is a virtual pet and a Webkinz pet has
a virtual pet side. They are both virtual pets, or as I have dubbed them for
short, “v-pets.”
A brief summary of what this is: I created a narrative about
my Tamagotchis and then Webkinz when I was around 13 years old and I never
stopped. This blog is me and my virtual pets going through the content of past,
present, and future.
A little longer summary of what this is: I’m combining my
Tamagotchi blog (“The Squid V5 Log”) and Webkinz picture story series (“Kat and
the Webkinz”) into one big blog and narrative, and continuing it from there. I
plan on adding more characters to the cast (like other virtual pets and dolls)
and more elements to the stories. I’m going to write myself and my virtual pets
going through ALL my old content and reflecting on it. Maybe we’ll talk about
some life lesson elements like Mister Rogers did on his show! The concept is
really broad right now, but I’m going to do my best to take all my ideas and
execute them into something awesome for everyone. I’m going to do my best to
have a broad diversity of characters wherever possible. Plus, I’m accepting
input from all my readers to add more diversity and try to make this blog story
zone a place that everyone can enjoy.
To kick off this VERY LONG series, I’m going to take you all
into some stories I wrote to try to introduce this blog. I wrote these this
past spring for a narratives class and I hope you understand and will enjoy!
I’ll meet you back here in a little bit!
“Just roll the posts already!” Chloe yells.
