"Hey, Kat, is there any way I can sleep alone tonight?" Lily asked in a whisper. I was awake doing some stuff on the computer.
"Of course," I whispered back.

"Hi," Barbie said. "I was just telling Lily not to give into peer pressure."
"She's with me, so she'll be fine for the night," I said.
"Okay," Barbie said.

"THANK YOU," Lily said.
"Okay," I said. "I'm gonna go get some snacks. Can you and Nick start up the air conditioning?"

I grabbed a blanket that had fallen off the bed.

I placed in on the chair so that Lily could snuggle into it comfortably.

I looked over at Lily who was at the edge of my bed.
"Here we go," I gestured.
"Thanks," Lily said.

I tucked her in. "Sleep tight."

"Lily," Barbie said.
"GAH!" Lily screamed. "Get your cold, old and creepy hands off of me!"
"For your information, 25 isn't old," Barbie said. "Remember that night?"

Lily heard some hands touch the chair and climb up.

Lily jumped up defensively.
"Who's there?" she shouted in a whisper.

Joey popped up. "Calm down; it's just me," he whispered.

Lily looked in front of her and let out a little sigh of slight relief as Joey sat down next to her.
"The corner was a bit cramped so I thought I'd join you tonight," Joey explained.
Lily didn't mind his company at the moment.

Joey tucked himself in next to her.
"Joey, I'm gonna be 21 in two weeks," Lily whispered. "I'm gonna be an adult. Things are gonna change."
Joey closed his eyes. "Not between us," Joey whispered to her. "I promise no matter how old and mature we get we'll be friends forever."

Lily dropped her head down and relaxed a little as she started to drift into sleep.
"Yeah, we are gonna be friends forever," she whispered back. "Goodnight, Joey."
"Sleep tight, Lily. You need it."
