Maria loved virtual
pets. She loved them more than anything else in the world. One reason why she
loved them is because she could actually play with them, unlike her two dogs.
They seemed to like her parents better than her, which drove her nuts.
Today became a
special day though. That’s because when her mom went to Walgreens to pick up
her prescription, she let Maria look around, and Maria found two things she
wanted so much.
They were selling
Webkinz Cares Webkinz and this week they were on sale, and they also were
having a clearout on Tamagotchi V4.5’s. She wanted them both so much! She was
going to get her first Webkinz AND Tamagotchi!
So, she asked her
mom if she could buy these two wonderful virtual pets, and so her mom let her
buy them because she knew she wanted them, and they were on sale too.
When Maria got home,
she went into her bedroom.
She adopted Leslie,
the Chocolate Lab, and Lulu, the girl Tamagotchi.
Leslie and Lulu
didn’t say a word. Lulu morphed into a child Tamagotchi that hour, then Maria
left the two virtual pets in her bedroom that night to get cleaned up and have
a night snack.
While Maria was
gone, the two virtual pets talked a little.
“Hi. I’m Lulu.” Lulu
said.
“And I’m Leslie!”
Leslie said.
“I like that W on
your paw!” Lulu said.
“Thanks! I like your
star antennae!” Leslie said.
“Thanks!” Lulu said.
“No problem!” Leslie
said.
There were the two
virtual pets: friends. But, it didn’t last too long…
The next day, Maria
sat in front of her laptop on webcam with two of her friends on the screen
using their webcams at their houses. Leslie was on her lap and Lulu was over
her neck.
Lulu was now a
teenager.
Maria was having a
conversation with her friends about her new virtual pets.
“So, Maria, how do
you like your new Tamagotchi V4.5?” one friend said.
“I like it a lot!
Thanks for telling me about it, Val!” Maria said.
“How do you like
Webkinz?” another friend said.
“I like Webkinz a
lot too! Thanks for giving me a heads up about it, Mia!” Maria said.
“Tamagotchis are,
like, the best virtual pets ever!” Val said.
“No, I think Webkinz
are!” Mia said.
“Tamagotchis are
better! Don’t you think, Maria?” Val said.
“No! She thinks
Webkinz are better! Right, Maria?” Mia said.
“Um, I like
Tamagotchis and Webkinz equally!” Maria said.
But the virtual pets
both thought, “She’s nice, but I bet she likes me better!”
“When are you guys
going to stop arguing?” Maria said.
Both the girls
continued to argue, so Maria shut off her laptop.
Then Maria left the
room to go have some lunch, and left the two virtual pets on her bed.
“You’re nice, but
Maria likes me better!” both the girls said at the same time.
Then, they both gave
each other mean glares and said, “No! I’m better!” then “No! I am!”
“You can actually
grow up when you’re a Tamagotchi!” Lulu said.
“Well, when
Tamagotchis grow up, they either die or leave! Webkinz stay forever! And
Tamagotchi babies are too needy!” Leslie said.
“You get a job as a
Tamagotchi!” Lulu said.
“You can only get
two jobs! On Webkinz, you can play as many jobs as you like! And we don’t have
skill points! Our high jobs depend mostly on trivia completion, which is
educational!” Leslie said.
“Skill points rock!”
Lulu said.
“Well Webkinz don’t
POOP all over the floor!” Leslie said.
“Who cares if we
poop?” Lulu said.
“It’s gross and it’s
bad class!” Leslie said.
“You can connect
with other people with Tamagotchis!” Lulu said.
“Yeah, but we can do
lots more with other Webkinz on Webkinz! We can chat, send mail, compete in
lots of games, and invite each other over to each others’ houses, trade, and SO
much more! You can’t even have a house on a Tamagotchi!” Leslie said.
“This is my house!”
Lulu said.
“And it sucks and
isn’t pretty!” Leslie said.
“At least we don’t
argue about who’s house is better!” Lulu said.
“On Webkinz, you do
you house, your style! You can even change your house! With Tamagotchis, you
just get one ugly design and that’s it!” Leslie said.
“Well we have
decoration kits to personalize our houses with GEMS!” Lulu said.
“Webkinz have
outfits! They’re awesome, stylish, and they STAY ON!” Leslie said.
“Are you suggesting
that I’m NAKED?” Lulu said.
“YOU ARE NAKED!”
Leslie said.
“Well, were unique!
Were not plain old cats and dogs!” Lulu said.
“Oh my god, Lulu!
There are cats, dogs, frogs, and monkeys with hearts on them, there’s sherbet
colored bunnies, there are pink animals, and, oh my gosh so much more!” Leslie
said.
“We’ve been around
longer! Since 1997! Were the world’s FIRST virtual pet!” Lulu said.
“No you weren’t.
Petz started back in 1995.” Leslie said.
“Well Tamagotchis
can go with you on the go!” Lulu said.
“Webkinz can go with
you too! Only we inspire creativity so owners can create their own games, do
crafts with us, plus we can actually cuddle with our owners.” Leslie said.
“Who actually
cuddles with stuffed animals?” Lulu said.
“Lots of people!”
Leslie said.
And, all that
arguing went on when Maria wasn’t looking for days and nights. Even when Lulu
was grown and had a baby boy (named Lee), and when Leslie had a little brother
(Lil’ Black Lab named Mack), the arguing still went on, only Lee and Mack
helped their side in the argument.
Then, one day, Maria
came home with a Littlest Pet Shop V.I.P. and Digital Pet.
Of course, Lulu and
Lee, and Leslie and Mack wouldn’t stand still for this. Littlest Pet Shop
trying to steal their thunder? (No offense to Littlest Pet Shop fans. This is
just a fictional story.)
“For now, a truce?”
Leslie said.
“Truce.” Lulu said.
And the rest is
history.
So people, don’t
fight about virtual pets. It’s pointless, and there’s so many and they’re all
different. Just enjoy all your Tamagotchis, Webkinz, and even the rip-offs can
be fun.
